My Heart is Warm, My Belly is Full

Today was Sunday, nothing important day.  We had no plans to do anything.  I got up and made a batch of monkey bread for breakfast, which was an awesome start to the day.  Michael headed out after breakfast because we needed a new chlorine tablet holder for the pool.

The old one was a giant rubber duckie.

He came back with a frog wearing sunglasses, because he new I would like it.

He also brought back the Sunday paper for me, because I have to go through the flyers and cut out my coupons.  When I got to the CVS flyer, I noticed that they were offering free goodie bags and a 5 x 7 picture for kids who came into the store in costume.

The kids put on their costumes and we headed down to CVS.  They each got a rubber snake, a rubber spider, a pack of glow-stick bracelets, a large glow-stick, a Twizzler and a Fun Dip.  The store manager took a picture of each of them in front of a pile of pumpkins and then printed them out for me.  The kids were thrilled and we got to do a test run on the Halloween costumes.

We headed home and relaxed for a while, I did some chores (not sure what anyone else did) and baked a special dessert for tonight.  Then we all went out together to run some errands.  Before I knew what hit me, it was time to cook dinner.  I threw together some Chicken Parmigiana.  I still don't know how it ended up being so good?  I have never made it this way before, I was just using what I had on hand.  I made "Shake N Bake" chicken, although it wasn't actually "Shake N Bake", it was "Shimmy N Roast".........otherwise known as "Great Value Seasoned Coating Mix".  We like to rename anything we buy that is "Great Value" to something similar to the brand it is copying.  Hmmmmm, I think there is an entire blog post in there somewhere.........

Back to the chicken, I topped it with shredded Parmesan cheese and melted it in the oven, then served it on a bed of fettuccine with Barilla Marinara sauce.  On the side we had zucchini sauteed in basil infused olive oil.  It was so good and we all scarfed it down.  My belly is so full, that I am not sure that I am EVER going to have room for the chocolate chip caramel cookie bars (and ice cream) that I made for dessert.

Another great day of just being a family; these are the days that warm my heart.  Nothing special, no stress, just everyone together.

It is the simple things that are the best memories in my book. You don't need to spend money to be happy. Stopping by from the blog hop (although late) and following you thru GFC. I would love a follow back when you get the chance. Thanks so much for your help and have a great week!
