The Last Supper

Here we are in a house with no kitchen table and no couch.  Luckily, we have a card table and a couple of camping chairs.  You see, I'm not sure if I explained this to you, but we decided to get rid of some of our older furniture because the house we are moving into is already furnished.  We are taking our own beds, so at least we have something to sleep in until Friday.  But we have sold our kitchen table and our couch.  Nothin' says, "White Trash" like a couple of Coleman Camping Chairs and a card table in your living room!

In addition to our wonderful furniture, don't forget that we are surrounded by boxes and piles of things that need to go in boxes.  We are also trying to get through all the food so that we don't have to move much.  This can lead to some interesting meals such as macaroni and cheese, crescent rolls and green beans.  But today, I have come up with something fabulous!  Tonight we will have a feast.  Tonight will be our Last Supper in this house.  I say that because after tonight, all we have left is a Digiorno frozen pizza, some Old El Paso Tortilla Stuffers and 4 tortillas.

Here is the menu for The Last Supper:

Oven Roasted Chicken

Bacon and Cheese Au Gratin Potatoes

Sweet Potato Casserole
(I went a little overboard on the marshmallows)
Green Beans
Cauliflower
Stuart Cellars Riesling (which I opened as soon as the chicken went in the oven)

It felt like such an extravagant meal for a Monday evening in a house with no furniture.  We laughed every time a drink nearly spilled because the table was wobbly.  All in all, it was a great dinner, not because the food was good (although it was, if I do say so myself) but because a nice dinner with your family is worth celebrating, even if you are sitting at a rickety old card table!
