Takin' It Easy on a Saturday

Today I'm going to take it easy because it is Saturday......just relax and do nothing of any importance........as soon as I get a few things done!

I got up this morning bright and early to get my Bountiful Basket of produce.  It was even more exciting this week because I ordered a pumpkin (for an additional charge) and it is beautiful!  I will carve it for the kids, then cook and puree the pumpkin that I remove for use in a future recipe.

In addition to all of the usual fruits and vegetables, this week we received three large avocados.  We always receive some kind of premium produce like pineapples, pummelos, coconuts, but we have never received avocados.  My culinary creativity juices are flowing!

After I finished unloading all the produce, I set to writing an article for my HubPages account.  Tonight we are having roasted chicken for dinner and I thought this the perfect opportunity to share my method with others, while taking pictures of the process and results.

Once I got a good start on my article, I prepared my chicken for roasting, took some pictures and put it back in the refrigerator.  Then I made the bed and folded a load of laundry that was hanging on the rack in the garage.  Now, I am off to the grocery store to pick up some bargains that I can't resist!  Maybe I will get to that relaxing thing when I get back!

OK, so I came back from the grocery store and found that the natives were hungry, so after putting away my groceries, I prepared some lunch.   But, back to the groceries........I really scored today.........I am really excited.......I have to share............here is what I got for $23.57........drum roll, please..........

8 Cans of Progresso Soup, 3 Boxes of Betty Crocker Fundamiddles Cupcake Mix,  2 Boxes of Pillsbury Toaster Strudel, 32 oz. Container of Yoplait Yogurt, 2 Cans of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits, 2-Liter of Pepsi Max, 12 oz. Farmer John Thick Cut Bacon, 5.39 Lbs of Pork Loin which the butcher so kindly sliced into chops for me!
It's 1:28pm, I think I'm ready for some relaxation!  I'm going to sit outside while the kids swim in the pool and relax!  But first I have to put the chicken in the oven because I am slow roasting it.

It's 3:01pm, the kids swam in the pool and I relaxed in the shade while playing with my iPhone.  I was also entertained by Hannah the Lizard Hunter; not Hannah the Lizard Catcher or Hannah the Lizard Slayer because she is an idiot and is not capable of catching one!  The expression on her face is priceless when she goes after one and there are many in our backyard.

Continuing on with this idea of relaxation, I am going to attempt to sneak into my bedroom, kickback on the bed and watch some TV...............hoping for no interruptions; it's 3:21pm.

Well, it was 4:00pm before someone came and found me, at which time I had to pause what I was watching because it was totally inappropriate for little eyes and ears.  I changed the channel to something more appropriate and watched TV with Madison for another half hour.

Now it is time to take a brake from takin' it easy, and prep the vegetables for dinner.  I think most of my  relaxation is done for the day until the kids are in bed, but I'm glad I managed to squeeze in more than usual!

It's 7:00pm, dinner is done and  I am going to upload some pictures for my article, publish it and then we are going to watch Megamind, together as a family.  Overall.........pretty awesome day!
